Art Fridays

Of Special Interest To: ArtistsProgram: Category: Boston Art & Culture NewsDate: Monday, August 10

Art Fridays is a weekly outdoor art show in Downtown Crossing situated in the heart of the district on Summer Street next to Macy’s. Summer Street is the busiest pedestrian street in Boston;  participating artists have the opportunity to sell work to shoppers as well as commuters passing by on their way to and from the Financial District, State House, Theater District, Boston Common, City Hall, Faneuil Hall and the T.  Performing artists and nearby food vendors add to the character and give customers a reason to slow down and check out the artists' work.

The pilot program has been a success and now dates have been extended into the fall.  Applications are currently being accepted for additional artists.

The cost per day for a participating artist is $15.  Artists are encouraged to set up a 10x10 tent, but tents are NOT required.  Artists without tents will be placed under the former Filene’s building overhang if it rains.  No commission will be collected on sales.

Sponsored by the Boston Redevelopment Authority, City of Boston and the Downtown Crossing Partnership
