National Arts Marketing Project

The National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP), sponsored nationally by American Express, is a three-year initiative designed to help arts organizations devise and implement marketing strategies to build attendance, diversify audiences and increase earned revenue. More than 340 different arts organizations have attended these workshops in the past three years. The program consists of:

NAMP Marketing Workshops: Workshops are held each year on key marketing topics relevant to small to mid-sized arts groups. Every workshop offers participants at least one tangible strategy that may be applied to their marketing programs immediately.

Sample NAMP workshops presented in Boston include: Diversify Your Audience, Permission Marketing, Collaborative Marketing, The Brand Played On, Buzz Marketing and Pricing Your Product.

Workshops are conducted by marketing experts from all over the country, and sometimes feature panels made up of area arts groups and businesses. Check the calendar for details on upcoming NAMP workshops. It's open to all arts organizations!

ArtsMarketing.org: The online component of the program, www.artsmarketing.org, offers hot topics, essays, insights and case studies from the nation's leading arts institutions and marketing professionals. ArtsMarketing.org is the "leading marketing source for nonprofit arts organizations."

National Arts Marketing Conference: A national conference is held once every 18 months. The next conference will be November 2 - November 5, 2007 in Miami. Please see www.artsmarketingconference.org/ for details.

Market This! Local arts and cultural organizations are invited to participate in a free roundtable discussion about marketing strategies, public relations, branding campaigns, advertising, customer development/retention, special events, promotions, fundraising and more. Held monthly, sessions will be facilitated by marketing experts from Cone Inc. and Foley Hoag. Please click on the links to the right, under the programs icon, for session details.

"Just wanted to let you know that the NAMP sessions were way beyond our expectations as far as their usefulness, etc. They were great! Not one dull speaker among the lot, and we learned tons of stuff...We are really excited about the project."
