In this video John Henry, Chairman of the Board, explains the reasons of his engagement with the Arts & Business Council.
Why Support A&BC?
The rationale to support the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston are many. Here are the top reasons:
The merger with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts has created a dazzling collection of talent, expertise and opportunity. The A&BC/Boston will reach out to a wider audience than ever before through its extensive range of services that provide expert knowledge on business and legal practices and proven ways for the business and legal sectors to make a real difference in the community.
A&BC/B directly impacts the economic vitality of Greater Boston. The creative economy provides 245,000 jobs — 3.5% of the New England workforce. Statewide, the economic impact of the creative sector is $2.56 billion annually. Boston’s cultural richness is ranked as the number two reason that tourists from around the globe visit our city; tourism generates more that $7 billion in annual spending in New England. A&BC/B is a gateway between our dynamic business sector and our lively arts communities. A rich, vibrant community is a healthy place not only to live but to do business.
A&BC/B provides significant value for businesses and business and legal professionals to contribute, volunteer and advance the arts and cultural diversity of the Greater Boston community/area; to experience leadership, management and board training programs in order to work and/or volunteer with regional nonprofit organizations; to be placed on the boards of Boston area nonprofit organizations; and to network with local arts organizations as well as business peers who share similar interests.
A&BC/B provides significant value for Cultural Organizations and Artists to instruct them how to recruit and manage a board of directors; to develop marketing skills; to provide emerging and mid-career visual artists with the business skills needed in order to sell and market their artworks; to receive training and have access to business and other nonprofit experts; and to have access to business volunteers, potential corporate funders as well as and potential new board members.
